What is my clothing made of?

How do I read laundry symbols?
ClothTrace decodes the wash, dry, iron, bleach and dry-clean symbols on a care label into plain language, so you never shrink or ruin a piece again. See the full laundry symbol guide.
Can an app really tell what fabric something is?
Yes. ClothTrace reads the fiber content the manufacturer printed on the label and explains what it means for comfort, durability, microplastic shedding and skin contact. It reads the label rather than guessing from a photo of the garment, so the answer is grounded in what the maker declared.
How accurate is it?
It reports the fiber content as printed and shows a confidence score instead of false certainty. Independent testing has found many blended-fiber labels do not match a fiber scan, so we surface how sure the read is and never invent a percentage we did not see.
Is ClothTrace free?
Yes. Scanning and decoding care labels is free with no scan limit. An optional Premium subscription unlocks per-finding deep dives, the full evidence behind each flag, and your complete wardrobe history.
Does ClothTrace collect my data?
No. Scans run on your device and your saved items live in your own private iCloud, which the developer cannot access. There is no cross-app tracking. When an on-device read is weak, only the single label image is sent for a real-time read and is not stored. Read the full privacy policy.
